A New Era Dawns in U.S .. Lot Of Hopes, Expectations ... Barack Obama

Since three days, I have been noticing which ever site i surf an image appears at any corner. A Guy with Full of smiles with Black Blazer.... Now his Image Everywhere, He becomes Icon.. He is none other than....... Barack Obama

Its an historic day as United States has a first black as it President, Barack Obama has swore in as the 44th president of the United States at noon Yesterday. For More, surf Google :-)

I think now in everone's mind one question strikes as how IT impact in India? What polices he implements? How about US Economy Growth, Jobs...Etc.

I have a US Friend Mr.Frederick Gillespie who has US Citizen Aged 45 years and about 29 years career experince in Different Sectors working in IBM from past 20 years. I had a 15 minutes chat with him what US People are expecting from Barack Obama and How they want to be? Is there any impact interms of IT/ITes and Other segments. Here you go the Conversation which we had day before..!

Shankar: Hi Fred, Barack Obama is going to swear in another couple of mins, whats ur feelings?
Frederick: Hey Shankar, hopefully it will be good news for everyone and for the world.

Shankar: What are your Expectations ?
Frederick: well the US constitution provides most (if not all) of our freedom, Obama as the "Executive" leader just helps steer the "boat"the Ocean is the "freedom" and he will steer the boat to better waters...!

Shankar: In Detail, Can you say what Americans Expecting exactly...?
Frederick: we are expecting lot of things from him, mainly
1. No more torture
2. closing of Guantanamo Bay Prison
3. Pull out of Iraq
4. No new wars
5. Better international relations with other countries (like India)
6. Less listening to only rich people and rich corporations
7. Wealth coming back to the low and middle classes
8. I think he will do a lot with IT

Shankar: Any Impact to IT & IT interms of Outsourcing to India?
Frederick: Nothing much i can say, good for IBM and the other large multinationals..but could be bad for "homegrown" Indian IT like TCS, Wipro, Infosys. other issues with IT outsourcing maybe due to Satyam. some businesses might be scared of fraud in India :-(
And if IT is affected in India...it is due to the economic crisis..not any political reason..! I doubt that will affect the Indian outsourcing market. and it things don't improve but don't get much worse than Indian outsourcing could improve as businesses look to save money.

Shankar: Any Impact to other Sectors?
Frederick: impact could be in manufacturing sector. not just sending everything to China and or India to be manufactured, more about making things than IT. IT is different- that can make sense for outsourcing. But it is stupid to make a 100 lbs cast iron thing and ship it across the world to save a few rupees.
India, Russia, China - I step over these disks everyday in the street - having the iron made in India and shipped to North Carolina - we have an Iron foundry 15 km away - but they businessman say better to ship it from India - I say that is not smart...I have kids..the price might be better but the earth pays a steep price :-)

Shankar: With Respect to IBM any Impact?
Frederick:
He will probably embrace Sam Palmisano's "Smarter Planet"Sam met with his advisors last week. Here is more info http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123180687062275609.html

Shankar: Any Policies, He is coming up with ?
Frederick: Energy Policy, more alternative sources, higher efficiency. less "old tech" less oil.

Shankar: Finally, will he Increase IT Jobs in US? How about impact on H1B Holders in coming year 2009-10?
Frederick: Not known if he increases US IT jobs. H1B should not be affected for now. fix the american economy. that is his main focus.
Shankar: Thanks Fred for sharing your opinions, Hope your expectations meets in forthcoming years under Barack Obama's driving. And I hope we do have a good time interms of IT especially in India...! Have a Nice Time..!!
Frederick: Thanks Shankar, Thank you & Viewers of your Blog... :-)
