“Ugadi Pachadi” is a congloromate with shadhruchulu or six tastes.
The inner significance of this preparation is a symbolic reminder to indicate that life is a mixture of good and bad, joy and sorrow and all of them have to be treated alike.
Ugadi, The New Year for Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka. Also celebrated as Gudi Padwa in Maharastra on the same day.
This auspicious day begins with prayers and eating of the traditional tamarind sauce called as “Ugadi Pachadi” in Andhra Pradesh and “Bevu-Bella” in Karnataka.

UGADI is the New Year's Day for the Telugu people all over the world.
Ugadi Pachchadi signifies that life is not a smooth journey. All sorrows, happiness, success and disappointment must be given due importance. All experiences have to be treated equally as it makes us learn something new every time and prepares us for the rest. It makes us develop positive attitude towards life. People also make some resolutions and pray to God for their well-being and prosperity.
Ugadi Pachchadi is a special preparation prepared in every Andhra home on Telugu New Year’s day. Its made with fresh tamarind, jaggery(panela), fresh mangoes and neem flowers (margosa). One can add sugarcane, coconut and bananas also. The sweetness of jaggery, the sourness of tamarind, the bitterness of neemflower and the pungent flavor of the green mango skin, spice of the chilli powder ,raw tender mango’s taste and lastly salt form the shadhruchulu or six tastes of the sauce.
